Favorite Links

Here are some of my favorite links and resources. I hope they are helpful to you!

Training

Elite Marathoning is the home site of my coach, Coach Mark Hadley. He offers personal coaching and training plans here, but he also has a really excellent breakdown of how to build a running program by utilizing strategic stimulus-response cycles and working all energy systems necessary for success. His athletes have an impressive race record, especially his daughter, Alana.

McMillan Running is the home site of Coach Greg McMillan. This site is chock full of excellent training tools, especially his calculators. I highly recommend joining his Pro community to get access to all of his tools; it comes out to $2 / month if you pay for the year upfront. McMillan offers training plans which have excellent reviews from runners across the spectrum of ability, but best of all (to me, at least) he provides a really thorough yet understandable framework to build your own training program with. His Run Club is a great way to connect with him, other coaches, and other runners, though I don't know when he will be re-opening it.

Runners Connect is another great site that offers coaching, training plans, and training tools. My favorite tool of theirs is the Marathon Nutrition Blueprint, which helped me significantly in my last marathon (the first time I didn't hit the wall). Their podcast is also a must! Really awesome interviews and discussions there too.

Racing

Running in the USA is an awesome source of upcoming and past races, all distances, everywhere in the country. This is my go-to place to search for races.

Active.com is the way most races have you register online, and is another great way to search for races. They also offer an Active Advantage membership, through which you can get free or discounted entry to many events, and usually waived processing fees for online registration.

Connecting

Strava is quickly becoming the most popular way for runners, bikers, and swimmers to post their activity, cheer each other on, participate in challenges, and generally obsess over their training and racing. It is free to join, though there is also a Premium membership available. Activities from your Garmin/Fitbit/etc can be automatically uploaded to Strava.

FitFam (formerly Gametime) is a way to add and track your upcoming and past races, I only started using it when I joined Oiselle Team, and don't visit the site as frequently as I do Strava, but it is a fun way to connect with others who are training for the same races.

Gear

Oiselle has the best running clothing for women that you will find! Clothes that I wear most of the time when not running, as well. Not to mention an incredible, kickass community of women.

Running Warehouse is a great site for all of your running gear needs. They have excellent return policies that allow you to make sure you love your new kicks and can exchange or return them within 90 days of purchase.

Active GearUp is a site connected to Active.com and provides discounted gear. Some of it they have all the time, other gear and brands are offered in temporary sales. Awesome way to score gear at a discount!

Pro Blogs

These are only some of the great pro-runner blogs out there (and of course the first two are fellow Oiselle birds :) Prepare to be inspired!
